I just received the Dell XPS 15 L502X and wanted to give some initial impressions of this Sandy Bridge based multimedia notebook. This configuration has an Intel Core i7 2630QM (Sandy Bridge) CPU, 6GB DDR3 ram, 640GB 7200rpm HDD, Nvidia 525M w1gb of ram and Optimus, Intel 1030 N w Bluetooth 3.0, 8X tray loading dual layer DVD burner and a full HD (1080p) 15.6 FHD B+RGLED display. HDMI, Display Port, SPDIF, HD webcam, back-lit keyboard, and USB 3.0 are all on board, making this 6+ pound laptop a true desktop replacement both in and out of the house. Battery life with the standard 6 cell battery averaged 4 hours, which for a Core i7 CPU based notebook is unheard of. This is one of the many performance gains that Intels second generation Sandy Bridge architecture has to offer. Enjoy the video! -TDD

Dell XPS 15z review after having used it for 2 weeks. Something I forgot to mention in the video is battery life. I can get a good 3-4 hours out of the battery on max brightness, so Im pleased with it. Specs: • 2nd generation Intel Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz • Elemental Silver Aluminum 15.6" 300-nit FHD (1080P) WLED Display with Webcam • 6GB3 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz • 500GB4 SATA hard drive (7200RPM) • NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M 1GB graphics with Optimus • 64 WHr 8-Cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery Something ELSE I forgot to mention is that I uninstalled all of the Dell software that came with the computer. It took about 10 minutes to do so, and I have no regrets whatsoever. You dont need it at all, and youre better off without it. Update (June 18): The eject button works 100% upon having reactivated the Dell Quickset program. Weird, because the other function buttons worked without the program running. hothardware.com – Theres just no question the XPS 15z is a beautiful laptop. Yes, it looks a tiny bit like the MacBook Pro, but is that really a bad thing? Dell has still made this design their own, and the keyboard trackpad experience is currently the best around. The 1080p display is just stunning to look at, and weight thickness here just has to be seen and felt in person to be believed. It just looks fantastic and the build quality is exceptional.
